NAS-rated 3.5-inch SATA drives: WD Red Plus, Seagate IronWolf, or Toshiba N300. Avoid desktop drives and SMR drives. 2.5-inch drives also fit. Check the official compatibility list before purchasing.
Yes. Start with RAID 1, then add drives to migrate to RAID 5 online without data loss. UGOS Pro supports upward RAID migration (RAID 1 to RAID 5). JBOD and RAID 0 cannot be migrated. Use the RAID Calculator to plan.
No. RAID protects against drive failure only. Accidental deletion, ransomware, and disasters affect all drives simultaneously. Follow the 3-2-1 rule: 3 copies, 2 media types, 1 off-site.
