The DH2300 ships without storage drives, so you'll need to purchase one or two 3.5-inch SATA hard drives separately. We recommend NAS-rated drives such as the WD Red Plus or Seagate IronWolf. It is also a good idea to check the UGREEN drive compatibility list before you buy, so you can confirm your chosen HDD has been tested with the NAS and avoid setup issues later.

That depends on how you set up the drives. With two 8 TB drives in RAID 1, you get about 8 TB of usable space, since one drive mirrors the other for added protection. In JBOD or Basic mode, you get about 16 TB, but without protection against a drive failure. Actual available capacity will be slightly lower because UGOS Pro uses around 16 GB for system partitioning, and the final number can vary depending on the drive type and how capacity is measured.
